About the Organisation
Since September 2015, Pro Sport Development (PSD) has been implementing the Community Sports Program in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, working with children from low-income families, studying in under-resourced schools in various slum settlements. PSD utilizes physical activity and multi-sports to aid in the holistic development of children between the ages of 5-15 years, by improving their physical health and well-being as well as social, personality and cognitive development.
About the Cause
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and nationwide lockdown that has followed, schools in Bhubaneswar have been closed till at least June 2020 and our programs in the city have come to a halt. However, we are committed to continue working with our participants, especially in these times of crisis.
During this time, PSD has been looking to engage with participants in innovative ways. We have utilised online mediums such as Whatsapp and social media to reach out to our participants with videos consisting of fitness routines to remain physically active at home, as well as engaging DIY arts and crafts.
In order to further develop this interaction, we are looking for professional athletes who can volunteer to create motivational video messages for children on the importance of mental health and the ways in which participation in sport and physical activity can boost one’s mental health. These videos will be educational, as well as provide motivation for children in these very difficult and challenging times!
The intended beneficiaries for these videos are children aged 5-15 from PSD’s Community Sports Program in Bhubaneswar. PSD will share the video messages with children and their parents through Whatsapp as well as social media platforms. Additionally, PSD will also share these videos with partner grassroots sports for development organisations in order to reach out to more children and youth.
The intended volunteers for these video messages are professional athletes. One video from an athlete should take a maximum of two hours make.
